Attaya Update

Postby Octothorpe » Mon Dec 14, 2009 6:10 pm

If you have any comments or suggestions for Attaya, let me know.

I have received some feedback on the mobs that have already been updated. There was a suggestion to have them drop money to pay for kits, or have them drop kits like they used to. I'm leaning more towards money drops, since I wasn't really pleased with the excessive amounts of gold kits lying around on the Staircase at all times, but I will make some tweaks after I finish the updating the other mobs and watching players go through the area over the next few days.

I should be able to finish crayoning/updating the last half of the normal Jungle/Staircase mobs this weekend.

I'm still pondering the kit situation atm. I'm thinking that if I do add some kits to the area, they will either be random drops, or in searchables. They definitely would not be gold kits though, probably rose only. The reason being that many players have complained about gold kits over the last few months, specifically how god mode they are in PKs. Because of that I'd rather not have mobs drop them, especially since before the updated mobs were done you could easily snag 50 gold kits on the Staircase.

I have provisionally reopened CT for the time being. Intruder, Autarkis, Callista, and Bishimon have all been updated with increased difficulty and revised gear. The gear is pretty much the same, except for a new plate drop on Bishimon. Existing gear has been updated with some increased enchantments and other bonuses for you guys to figure out. The bosses give a miniquest after they die, which is then queried by their gear drops for the ownering. What this means if that anyone that has the miniquest will be able to use the gear, provided they are above the minimum level to use based upon enchantment. Hopefully this will make PKing for gear more interesting, as long as you have the miniquest already.

The area is very much a work in progress, but the updated bosses have been tested somewhat. Intruder/Autarkis are significantly more difficult, on par at least with Klauth/Qualtatoth, so keep that in mind if you go solo and get pwned. Callista is fierce as well, which intended since she is the last guardian that you have to go through to get to Intruder. Aelwynn tried her out earlier this morning and got creamed alone, but should be doable with 2-3. Bishimon is a little bit harder than he was before, he has not been properly tested by players yet, but probably could be soloed with care, and definitely should be able to be two manned. If you do decide to go through the whole tower, please do log the trip, in case there is a bug that causes you to die. I will not be providing refunds to those that die to overwhelming force to Intruder/Autarkis, unless there is a verifiable bug.

The current plan is to slowly revise each boss for difficulty and their drops, and put them in game. After that is done, I will be doing the new crayons on the rooms, at which point the area layout may change slightly.

If you have any questions or suggestions, don't hesitate to PM, mail, post here.

Have fun.

Sounds great, cannot wait to see it.

Only thing I'm a little worried about is this line

"Intruder/Autarkis are significantly more difficult, on par at least with Klauth/Qualtatoth, so keep that in mind if you go solo and get pwned"

It's almost impossible to gather a klauth party due to the low player base, wouldn't it be possible to make them more like the deep dragon instead? Would be more fun to be able to go more often then just on a night where the moons and stars are in the right spot and we have enough high lvl players with the right alignments etc.

I don't intend this to be an area where people are able to go daily, in the same vein that Klauth is not something that people do everyday. It is meant to be an epic undertaking, you are taking the fight into the center of an undead empire with thousands of pissed off undead around you. I cannot speak on Nienne's behalf, but it is my interpretation that Arkhon was specifically designed with the smaller player base in mind. This design decision is not made in a vindictive manner to punish our low player base, but done so in order to have an area along with Klauth that is challenging for even maxed out characters.

The new ownering mechanic is in place with a smaller player base in mind. All of the gear will conform with the +1/5 level scale with no exceptions, and will require the appropriate miniquest to use it, (ie. character must have the Intruder/Autarkis miniquest to use Phantasmic Plate, etc.) Players have been calling for looser restrictions on ownering so it is worthwhile to strip gear for personal use during PK, now that will be possible, since anyone with the miniquest can use the item, if they have the minimum levels. The old versions of CT gear will remain in the game, no one will be forced to update their gear to the new versions and have to forfeit them until they get the appropriate miniquest. All of the new version of gear will be updated either in enchantments, or otherwise, to match the standard of high level gear that has emerged over the last few years. The Phantasmic Plate will no longer be a generic +5 plate, so if you are interested in having the new perks, then you'll need to earn the new versions. If you don't want to risk it, then you can continue to use the older versions.
